The Republic Day celebrations 2025 promise to be a spectacular showcase of India’s rich heritage and progressive achievements. Early on Sunday morning, tens of thousands will gather in Delhi to witness the grand Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path, marking a proud moment of unity and national pride.
Chief Guest: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto
Adding an international dimension to this year’s celebrations, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will grace the event as the Chief Guest. For the first time, military contingents from Indonesia will participate in the march-past, highlighting the growing bond between India and Indonesia.
Special Guests and Theme: ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’
Approximately 10,000 special guests from various walks of life, including farmers, teachers, and artisans, have been invited to witness the event. This year’s Republic Day theme, ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India: Heritage and Development), celebrates India’s cultural heritage and progress.
Highlights include:
- 31 magnificent tableaux from different states and services.
- A debut tri-service tableau, showcasing the unity of India’s Armed Forces.
- A stunning cultural performance by 5,000 artists, covering the entire Kartavya Path for the first time.
Why is Republic Day Celebrated?
Republic Day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India on January 26, 1950. This historic day marks India’s transformation into a sovereign republic, upholding the values of democracy, justice, and equality.
Republic Day Parade Schedule
- Time: The parade begins at 10:30 am, lasting for approximately 90 minutes.
- Ceremony Start: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the National War Memorial to honor India’s fallen heroes by laying a wreath. He will then proceed to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to witness the parade.
